Johnny Evans

President & Chief Executive Officer

Since joining CF Evans in 1975, President and CEO Johnny Evans has succeeded in growing and developing a professional firm with a winning track record. His leadership has made CF Evans the top choice of many clients throughout the Southeast. He has assembled an outstanding team of men and women who embrace the values of hard work, thorough grounding in construction principles, openness to innovative approaches, excellent communication skills, and unparalleled integrity.

Johnny, whose father Clarence F. Evans founded the firm in 1948, grew up in the construction industry. He possesses nearly 40 years of hands-on experience and is highly skilled in the means and methods of construction. He excels in identifying the most cost-efficient way to give clients the maximum value for dollars spent. Johnny is a graduate of Clemson University.

John Barr

Executive Vice President and Chief Operation Officer

As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, John Barr oversees all daily operations, working closely with all aspects of marketing, business development, preconstruction and construction services, human resources, safety, information technology, financial services, corporate services and joint venture/teaming relations. He has been integrally involved with CF Evans’ corporate growth over the past decade. He is responsible for assuring the mission statement of the company is met and the strategic vision is fulfilled. He oversees all project related legal and contractual matters in the capacity of corporate secretary. Previously he served as project manager, operations manager and general manager. His complete 25-year project experience spans all markets served by CF Evans.

Rusty Porter

Vice President of Preconstruction Services

Dating back to 1986, Rusty has an extensive resume with an emphasis on design/build team leadership and preconstruction services. As Vice President of Preconstruction Services, Rusty is responsible for the operations budget throughout the entire preconstruction phase. Rusty also supervises all estimating and schedule development. In addition, Rusty analyzes project logistics and value engineering throughout all phases of the construction management process.

He has been responsible for a wide variety of projects that span our areas of expertise.

Dodd Buie

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Dodd Buie brings 30 years of experience in the public and industrial sectors. His experience spans such industries as banking, construction and governmental sectors.  He has focused on all aspects of financial management since 1996.  He is responsible for monitoring, managing and improving internal accounting controls, CF Evans business insurance programs, the development of annual operating budgets and new accounting policies and procedures.

Dodd provides leadership and support of the company in its efforts to further its mission to provide world-class customer service by building quality relationships, quality teams, and quality projects. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Brett Evans

Division Manager

Brett started working in the family business in 1994, and has worked in all areas of the construction process from site work through project completion.

After earning his BS degree in Building Science from Auburn University in 2003, Brett was employed by B. L. Harbert International from 2005-2007. In 2007, Brett joined CF Evans, serving as a superintendent until 2009 when he stepped into his current role. As Division Manager for CF Evans, Brett oversees all field supervision and personnel.  His specific responsibilities include preplanning on each job with the site team members and preconstruction, monitoring and working to improve safety, quality, and schedule of each project, and making sure that the right personnel are on the team to ensure each project’s success.

David Summers

Division Manager

As Division Manager for multi-family construction, David oversees all project management staff and personnel.  Since joining CF Evans in 2002, David has held the positions of Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager and currently General Project Manager. David is a graduate of Clemson University, where he majored in Construction Science and Management and minored in Business.

Janet R. Bates

Director of Marketing

As Director of Marketing, Janet oversees the development and protection of the CF Evans brand. She was a finalist for the 2012 Marketer of the Year by the Charleston American Marketing Association and she holds her MBA in General Management and Sustainable Enterprise from the University of North Carolina Kenan Flagler Business School and her BA in Theatre and Dramatic Literature from The George Washington University. A graduate of the Tuck School of Business Bridge Program at Dartmouth, Janet previously worked at Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation, and at Fathom, an agency known for its award winning brand development and creative material.

Nikki Hewett

Human Resources Manager

As Human Resources Manager, Nikki works to align the strategic vision for all the human resources functions with company goals. Nikki earned her Master’s degree in Human Resources from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Her previous experience includes work with a civil engineering and architecture firm based in Columbia, SC and she has been a board member of the Columbia SHRM chapter since 2010.

Harrell Crider

Division Manager

An employee of CF Evans since 1981, Harrell is the longest-serving employee of CF Evans and a center-piece to the growth that has taken place over the past two decades. An accomplished builder and project manager, Harrell directs special projects construction, which specializes in smaller scale projects, many with unique complexities. He has been key part of CF Evans’ growth for more than the past quarter century and has served as superintendent and project manager of various projects. Harrell, a former building code official, oversees all field supervisory and craft staff members for special projects.

Hank Rhame

Safety Compliance Officer

As Safety Compliance Officer, Hank Rhame brings over 25 years of experience in operations and management to the CF Evans team.

As the full-time safety professional, Hank is responsible for the implementation of all project safety related processes, policies, and training. Hank places a major emphasis on employee and subcontractor pre-task planning and compliance with OSHA standards. Through frequent site inspections, he insures conformance to site-specific plans and immediate corrective action where hazards are present or may appear.  Hank is a graduate of The Citadel and former U.S. Army Officer.

Janet Peek

Construction Coordinator

As Construction Coordinator for multi-family construction, Janet joined CF Evans in 2008 as part of our Construction Services team. Janet works with construction assistants to manage documents, contracts and insurance matters for all multifamily projects. Janet has worked to improve the processes and procedures of CF Evans by working closely with the General Project Manager and the Project Management team.

Carl Quick Jr.

Information Technology

Carl is a 2002 graduate of South Carolina State University with a BS in Industrial Technology; a 2012 graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College with a certificate in Internet working and a certificate in Network Engineering.  As an employee of CF Evans since January 2012, Carl serves as the Information Technology Technician.  Carl is responsible for CF Evans’ network, computer hardware and software, email services, audio and video equipment, telephone services (land and cell) and so much more.  He has played a vital part in the advancement of CF Evans in the world of technology.
